ONA Review/Giveaway Post

Before I start to tell you how awesome the Roma is, let me tell you how I fell in love with some of their products...

Take a look at them, those are camera bags! Aren't they so stylish?

Well, usually before I write a review post, I always try to read and study the company I am representing. I went to their web site, and read some things and I went "Yes! I know exactly what you are talking about!"

Here is the part that I soo totally agree with written by Tracy, founder of ONA;

"I love photography. There's something truly magical about taking a photo that tells a story and captures the essence of a moment in time. So I carry my SLR camera everywhere. On dreamy vacations. To Sunday brunch with friends. To family gatherings and trips to the park. But I loathed carrying a camera bag that was clunky and distracting. On occasion, to avoid looking like a tourist, I even tried stuffing my camera into a stylish non-camera bag, wrapping it in scarves or t-shirts and hoping it wouldn’t come in contact with my other stuff. Inevitably, it did. And my camera ended up with the nicks and scratches to prove it..."

When I bought my DSLR, it was a packaged deal, so it came with the bag. I thought it was really neat to protect my camera, but soon I found that I didn’t like my bag. It is bulky, and it speaks loudly "I AM A CAMERA BAG!" I don't like that.

The bags created by ONA are true to their philosophy... camera bags should be discreet, stylish and functional.

I was given the chance to use one of their products Roma.

It is a camera insert, and boy I LOVE this already. A lot of the time, I don't want to take the whole bulky camera bag wherever I go. Roma is not going to be a replacement for the camera bag with ALL my lenses and accessories, but I was able to pack my DSLR and small lens and put that into my other bag that I wanted to carry that day. It didn't only serve as a camera insert, because of the five exterior pockets; it helped me organize my other stuff in the bag.

Shabby Apple Review / Teacher's Pet Skirt

Ahh... I am in love. I have been eyeing this Teacher's Pet skirt ever since their new line Academia came out.

Navy & white is one of my favorite color combinations; I love how the borders get wider towards the bottom and the boxed pleats give more detail to the skirt.

Here are a couple more of my favorites from Academia line;

A+ shirt dress

I always love classy style. I especially like the white collar and 3/4 sleeves. I bet there are many different ways to wear this dress.

And this one... Bookworm. First of all, I love the name "bookworm", since I am always reading something if I am not taking care of my family or sewing. I love the simplicity of it. I love bold colors or patterns but it is always nice to have simple (yet pretty) items such as this. The potential of the clothes is almost limitless with some accessories and shoes you can always dress up or down.

Are you wondering if I had fun with my new skirt? You bet I did!

There were several ways that I thought I can wear this skirt with what I have in my closet. I can wear it with a simple navy t-shirt, the right shade of red might be a fun choice, you can always count on a crisp white shirt, oh, even when you are wearing the same thing, how you accessorize it gives a totally different look to the wardrobe. I am not a fashion expert, but I enjoy thinking about the possibilities.

Well, you have already seen one of the coordinations I did. Here is another one:

All I changed from the first one was the shoes, cardigan and belt. That is all! The first coordination was more of a "good girl" look. I was aiming for a "boutique" look with this one.

I just love this skirt, and with the right coordination and accessories, I can pretty much wear this for three out of the four seasons. Isn't that awesome or what?

Note: When you go to their website to see the picture for this skirt, the bottom of the skirt hit just below the knee of the model. Since I am much shorter it is a little bit lower on me. I am Cecilia; I live in Uruguay (my birth country). I am married to my loving and supportive husband and I am mom of a 2.5 years old gorgeous and very active girl :)

In November 2007, 1 month after we got married, we moved to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, because of my husband's new job with the idea of living there for 2 years. While Martin had lived in Malaysia a few years before, it was a totally new and different experience for me, adaptation was difficult at first, but the whole experience was worth it, I enjoyed living in Malaysia and often miss many things from there.

At 3 months after arriving in Malaysia we learned that we were expecting a baby! And in September 2008 our princess Sophia was born, our most challenging experience on that trip on the other side of the world! She is always a challenge and a huge inspiration for all my creations.
In February 2009 we moved to São Paulo, Brazil also because of my husband's job and finally in mid-2010 we moved back to our home country.

I love all handmade things since I was a child, I always loved to make stuff with my hands, make something beautiful out of nothing. My passion in life was always clothing design, I used to spend a lot of time designing party dresses and my mother used to sew some of them for me. As a grown up I learned to sew myself. When my daughter was born I started to design clothes for her, that was when the real passion about sewing began, I got a sewing machine and started to create all kind of things, from toys to clothes and share some of them in my blog, I found a whole world of possibilities in crafting, sewing, painting. Soon I learned sewing patterns drafting so I could share my own experience with other people.

Later I opened an Etsy shop (TheLilyBirdStudio) where I sell sewing pattern for kids clothing, my designs are comfortable yet stylish for little kids and almost all of my products are easy projects for beginners to intermediate sewers.

Thanksgiving Giveaway 2010!

Wow, has it been a year already? Last year, I did a Thanksgiving giveaway, and the little did I know, it turned out to be a very special event. The rule for this giveaway is to let us know "what you are grateful for", instead of a regular comment. Reading all of the comments made me realize how blessed we are in many different ways.

CSN Review

CSN store (one of the top online U.S. retailers of home and office goods) contacted me to see if I would like to review a product from one of their 200+ online stores. CSN has every product line imaginable, but I decided to review pressure cooker. I always wanted to try using pressure cooker, but part of me was afraid that I am going to hurt myself somehow with the steam...

After reading some reviews and going back and forth, I chose the Fagor Duo Stainless Steel 6-Quart Pressure Cooker. This was also the #1 recommended Pressure Cooker Model Rated by Cook’s Illustrated Magazine! :) I ordered online, and it showed up on my door step in two days!

It is made out of 18/10 stainless steel, and get this, it came with stainless steel steamer basket, recipe book which contains more than 50 recipes!, a user`s manual and Instructional DVD's.

I sat down and watched the DVD and... I tried it. I steamed some vegetable, and made beef stroganoff.

It was soo easy to use!! I don't know if other pressure cookers are the same way, but this one is surely simple and easy to use. One of the things that made me decide to try this pressure cooker is that, this is designed to be safe. Triple safety mechanisms prevent excess pressure build up, and the safety lock on the handle will not open until all of the pressure is released. I always seem to find a way to hurt myself, but I used this pressure cooker without getting burned. :)

When I steamed some veggies, it only took three minutes after the pressure built up. The colors were vivid, and the flavor was so much better than when I boiled them (also, it is supposed to retain water soluble vitamins & minerals better when you cook with a pressure cooker). The carrots were so sweet, I just kept popping them in my mouth, I couldn’t stop. Also, my husband loved the stroganoff.

I am still trying things out, but I want to experiment with different recipes and become good at this. Right now, it is like a science experiment for me to cook with a pressure cooker. I can't wait to open the lid and see the results.

I am a one busy mom, I love anything that will save me time, make great nutritious and tasty meals for my family. I LOVE my pressure cooker! I highly recommend this product. :)

Blogging has inspired me to be more creative and to connect with who I am. Because of your nice emails and comments, I feel like I can do more than my ability allows and have finished lots of projects in the past two years.

I wanted to do something special for my anniversary giveaway.

If you have been reading my blog from the beginning, you will know that I am a BIG fan of Amy Butler. I LOVE all of her stuff, from designs to fabric to patterns. I also read some magazine interviews, and stories of how she started her business and where she is now. She is an inspiration to me and I just admire her work.

Then... I decided to contact Amy Butler Design to see if they can help me with their amazing products to make this anniversary giveaway very special... Call me brave or bold. I know, I know, I am nobody, but I just love her stuff, and I had to try.

And... Guess what... Amy's promotion specialist contacted me and said, they will provide five sewing patterns (one pattern is a new design!) for Tea Rose Home readers!!! I thought I was going to pass out in front of the computer when I received the email!

Cinderella Princess Costume Giveaway!!!

One of my sponsors, My Cute Dressups, is giving away, to my awesome readers this Cinderella Princess Costume! I went and checked out their website and they have such a cute collection of costumes. Hero capes for boys and various Disney princess costumes for the girls. If you plan on going to Disney Land or Disney World, you might want to pack one of these costumes for your little princess. Like I have mentioned on my home page, I have given the opportunity to do the giveaway be half of Living room Furninture.
